It's a Matte Revolution!

Matte lip colors are the hottest makeup item right now… Everyone is making them and I am all up for trying all of them!   (Lol, I wish!) Matte lipsticks are also great for those of us who have dark lips, the matte texture covers and evens it out with minimal effort. Matte lips also stand the heat in this hot island, wich makes it even more amazing.

Matte Lips are great both for day and night, but we must remember this important fact: if it's matte, it probably -and I did say probably, not always- will tend to leave a dry feeling on the lips, so It is very important to always moisturize before and after we apply these bad boys. By hydrating the lip, not only will it prime our lips and create a great canvas for a longer lasting lip color, but It will also help the lip feel smooth and healthy even after applying the matte lip color.

Having tried out a few of these matte lipsticks, here are my top picks:

1. Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick. $20. www.macys.com

This liquid formula is simply exquisite! Remeber when I said earlier that not all matte lipsticks feel dry or chappy? Well I was definetly referring to this one! Anastasia never dissapoints to amaze us. This liquid to matte lipstick applies so soft and beautiful, leaving the lip looking amazing, plus they're so pigmented! I'm obsessed with the shade Dusty Rose. I have literally used it two weeks in a row and I'm not ashamed to say it, lol. It's the perfect neutral, -but not boring- color for everyday. It is definetly pricey, but If you're in the mood for a deserved splurge, ABH is the way to go!

2. Colourpop Ultra Matte Lip. $6. www.colorurpop.com

Colourpor Cosmetics is a cosmetics company based in California, and everyone is basically obsessed with them! They launched the Ultra Matte Lip Collection back on july and they were sold out in a few hours! Lucky for me, I got my hands on a few of them on time and they're just gorgeous. They dry so quickly, and the pigmentation is really great. They are serious when they mean ultra matte, as these liquid lipsticks are extremely matte. I do recommend to use a lip balm before and after you use them because they do tend to chap the lip, but  I still love them. After all, for that price, It's a must have! And they come in 25 beautiful shades as well. Did I mention they're also Cruelty Free Cosmetics? <3

3. Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick. $20. www.sephora.com

The shade I'm wearing in this picture is called Lolita. It is probably the more popular shade they have as of right now, even though Bows n' Arrow It's giving them a nice friendly competition! I am obsessed with Lolita as well! I think It is such a wearable color, and It  does look amazing on everyone and every skin color. I have a few liquid lipsticks from KVD and another one I absolutely adore is L.U.V., a very rich purple that has everyone talking about. They feel amazing on your lip and I won't say they hydrate the lip, but they don't leave a dry feeling either, which is awesome. They are also on the big-spender's list but they are a must have!

4. L'Oréal Paris Le Matte. $9.69. www.walgreens.com

I am so glad they brought this pen back! They originally launched in 2013 as a Limited Edition Collection, and this year they decided to bring them back, and the best part, I don't see anywhere they're a Limited Edition! In New and Old Colors this pen is here to make a revolution! This sophisticated pen has highly pigmented colors that glides on effortlessly in one precise stroke, making it a must have for those girls that are always on-the-go! Less than $10 for a long lasting matte pen!? Gimme!

And that would be it for my Top Matte lipsticks of the moment.
Remember gals, all skins and lips are different. What works for me doesn't necessarily work for everyone, and HEY!, that is the beauty of the beauty world! There are no rules! Just do what makes you happy and what makes you feel beautiful inside and out.

Now, show me your mate lippies!

Xoxo,
Gio.

My very own First Blog Post!

Hello, pretty gals!

I must say I am really excited about this new journey called blogging!! I've been battling and postponing this decision for a while now, but I'm really glad I finally decided to give it a try.

I've always considered myself a beauty-junkie (if that's even a word, lol). I used to love those Walgreens strolls just to wander around that amazing, breathtaking, still "Oh, so magical!" hall of makeup and skincare, and I would really spend hours in there, and that would just completely make my day. <3

That's how Piña con Rubor comes to life. Piña con Rubor meaning Pinneapple with blush in english, is simply my view as a makeup and skincare addict that lives in the tropical island of Puerto Rico, that struggles everyday with crazy and -sometimes- bipolar weather, heat and humidity, making the makeup experience much more difficullt than other "makeup-friendly" countries.

My wish is to inspire other men and women to embrace their natural beauty, but never be ashamed or scared to throw a little glitter here and there to have that confidence boost we all need from time to time, or just wear make up because it's ultra-mega fun!

I am not a certified makeup artist or cosmetologist... yet. So please do understand that I am simply here to share my experiences and opinios with you guys. I am always open to hear your thoughts on anything, so feel free to leave a comment on this or any other post.

Love,
Gio.
